Yeah you are locked from making pickups. But your commish can just set a teams moves totals to whatever he wants. So if that happens you can just role a teams total back to 0 if you want. Although I just see it as easier and a little more strict on even semi-streaming to just leave it at 100. But again if you want to just reset for teams that is coo. I don't really care lol. Just don't be surprised if some teams use the max moves to semi-stream lol. Hope not! I think you can't set max moves in Yahoo up to 200 coz, yes, Yahoo max (if you want to have a max) is 100. However, you can initially set it as no maximum and lock the team moves manually once the team hit 200 moves

A few questions from my point of view:
1- Seems like alot of you have never played Yahoo! Fantasy Hockey or am I missing something???
2- 200 Moves to me seems VERY HIGH. One guy in one of my league keeps cycling players and is up to 85. I know there will be more than normal with no IR spots and such but like Pitts said, 100 is more than enough. I do like the 1 week rule though. Prevents idiots from abusing of the VERY HIGH max moves.
Just my 2 cents...
Oh and this thing about not being able to change rules before next year, to me seems a bit strange. This is a dynasty league, you will have the same players next year so it won't make no difference. I say we might as well take a look at it now as regular season will kick off in 5-6 months. If we feel there should be rule changes, they should be looked at before this whole thing starts.

I've played on Yahoo and I don't think 85 moves is enough to justify that a guy is cycling players, hell that's only 4 moves a week. Cycling players usually requires about 4 moves per day. In my other leagues there are guys that don't cycle players in but are still at 130-140 moves. A lot people just do a lot of reseach and grab the hottest players off FA and ride out there hot streak for a couple weeks and then exchange them for a new guy. I see no reason to penalize those types of guys who do their research. Maybe we could lower it to 150, but I don't see any reason to go lower than that.

The only problem I really see with having 200 moves is if people didn't use them throughout the season, and then started cycling guys once the playoffs rolled around. I doubt we'd have a problem with that, but really I don't see how you could prevent someone from doing that, because technically they would still be playing within the confines of the rules.

The initial draft is absolutely the single most critical aspect of team building. Bar none. Rules need to be set, and understood, before the draft takes place. If rules are initially patched together without considerable thought/discussion/agreement regarding the framework, simply to rush towards "the fun part" (draft), you end up with a borked league, and unhappy GMs.

I don't know, I really don't make many moves at all unless my players are sucking, but either way I'm ok with whatever system we go with.

However, after the deadline you can still call up from the farm, right?

Hence my roster full of productive vets, some with dual wing eligibility.

Hence my roster full of productive vets, some with dual wing eligibility. So you actually drafted and adjusted your strategy based on the 200 move allowance? So, does that mean you drafted with the intention of cycling...I don't really care, I'm just confused. If it's within the rules that's fine, I just think cycling players at all ruins the fun.

Not really, cause once you bring somebody up form your farm, they have to stay on your regular team for at least 7 days, and vice versa if you send someone down. You can't just bring 'em up for a game or two here or there.

I agree, but it sounds to me like he's just talking about rotating his bench players in and out of his lineup, which isn't really cycling IMO, and doesn't count towards your move limit anyway (as far as I know), and is completely legit as far as I'm concerned. If he's talking about cycling his farm team in and out of his lineup, he can't really do that anyway because of the 7 day rule.

I think it should be kept at 200. I've specifically drafted more productive vets to cycle into my lineup based on injury, etc. Like I said when there was discussion about reducing the number of defensemen on the roster - you simply can't hold the draft before the rules are finalized. Draft selections are made based on a strategy to win, within the framework of rules the league has set out. Comon you don't seriously take 200 or 100 moves in a season into consideration when drafting do you? That doesn't make sense. You can't rotate from the farm more than weekly anyway so what is the difference. A change in max moves has NOTHING to do with this draft. I don't get it.
