I just want to hear everybody's opinion on this matter. 8 out of 14 people will get points added for next season. At that point we can also discuss the addition of another cat for goalies. PLEASE vote and if you can post to let us know your thoughts.

I vote yes, just because if someone wins goals by one and gets absolutely hammered in assists, I don't think they should come out with a 50-50 split.

I really see both sides of it. Originally I was all for adding points b/c of the reason already added. But I think it was Chris that brought up that fact that if you win goals by 10, and lose assists by 11, you clearly had the better offensive week but you will still lose 2 of 3 categories.

I don't mind either way but status quo, I believe the current setting is just fine. I don't have any porblem to have a split in goals and assists. If you think it's unfair to split the cat. Then how about this: eliminlate both goals and assists cat and just having point cat, then i will go with points. peace.

I voted no, for the reasons stated on the Yahoo board (seems redundant, guy who wins assists will probably win pts most times too I'm guessing, and I don't think there should be so much emphasis on assists when goals are obviously more imperative to a team winning a game), and also because I'm fine with the way things are currently. I see the flipside of the coin, I understand the benefits to adding pts, and there are definitely benefits to adding it just as there's drwbacks too, however, maybe I'm missing a crucial detail here or something, but I don't really feel the benefits outweigh the minuses, let alone enough to bother making a change like this.
So I'll stick with my vote of no, but I won't have a big problem with it if it is added.
P.S. to give credit where credit is due, the 10 goals/11 assists comment was from MTL (Steve, I think?), and I wholeheartedly agree with it.

I think points should only be added as a replacement to another skater category.
I think it's important to keep a good balance between Skater and Goalie Stats.
I suggest replacing SHP with Points.
Or, perhaps you could add Points and Losses.

I would be OK with replacing SHP or GWG with Pts.
Definitely don't want to add losses because I like to eliminate stats that could possibly encourage somebody to bench their goalies. Adding Saves would be my choice if we added a G cat.

No matter what you want to add, I still think the current goalie to forward cat. ratio is the best. Right now it's 1:2 over the 12 cat. I hope it could stay the same ratio or at least close to it.
OT, other than adding stat cat., would it be possible to make a bigger farm or bif club roster slot?? We could definitely discuss this later but just wondering.

Yeah, I would definitely like to expand farm rosters. One idea I was considering is expanding this years draft to 5 rounds and making our minor league rosters 15 players.

Wow I'm amazed. 4 no's. Where are all those yes's I heard before?
POINTS IS THE MAIN STAT!
It needs to be there. Ugh.
Also, why do we need a 2:1 ratio? There are so many more skaters than goalies. It isn't logical to put so much value on so few players(aka goalies) especially in a 14 team league. Goalies are valuable as hell anyway cuz there aren't a ton.
I say add Saves if we must however.

Ya know you could always add 5 minor league spots and make them non-keeper positons so that each year when we have the draft, we will ahve some room for new players... and a little bit of influx of old talent back into the draft pool.
